Concept Engineer
Purpose / Mission
Act as a technical Concept Engineer by leading pre-sales and supporting solution implementation together with Solution, Design and Service team, providing conceptual and technological expertise to win projects, support customers in the Electronics & Assembly industry – particularly in Semiconductors – and promote Festo innovations while driving cross-selling and global application success.
Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business:
- Secure new projects through technical concept support in pre-sales, driving business growth and revenue.
- Increase sales via cross-selling and promotion of Festo innovations in customer applications.
- Ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness of proposed solutions, reducing financial and operational risks.
- Align concepts with strategic growth areas in Electronics & Assembly, supporting long-term business objectives.
- Provide advanced consultancy and tailored solutions across, combining deep technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving ability, and strategic guidance.
- To perform any ad hoc tasks been assigned by Line Manager from time to time.
Innovation and Change:
- Introduce new technologies and sustainable solutions into customer concepts, enhancing competitiveness.
- Adapt concepts quickly to changing market dynamics and customer requirements.
- Continuously improve concept development processes for efficiency and scalability.
- Share success stories globally, enabling structured knowledge transfer and innovation scaling.
- To observe any of potential of process change oportunity
Communication with internal and/or external Customers, Suppliers as well as Third Parties:
- Act as trusted technical contact for customers, requiring continuous communication and consultation.
- Collaborate frequently with internal teams (Sales, Application Engineers, Project Engineers) to align solutions and strategies.
- Present concepts and solutions clearly to customer technical departments, ensuring mutual understanding and agreement.
- Maintain occasional communication with suppliers and third parties to clarify technical requirements and feasibility.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Mechatronics / Automation Engineering
- Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering (with strong automation/production knowledge)
Professional Knowledge and Experiences
- 8 - 10 years of Industrial Automation experience necessary.
Extended Knowledge and Experience:
- Deep understanding of automation technologies: pneumatics, electrics, motion control, robotics, and controls.
- Familiarity with electronics & assembly processes, particularly in semiconductors (front/back end).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (preferably Creo Parametrics) for concept modeling and illustration.
- Knowledge of production concepts (lean manufacturing, Industry 4.0, AI in automation).
- Awareness of sustainability principles in automation solutions.
- Strong presentation and technical communication skills.
- Several years in concept development, R&D, or application engineering in automation or machine-building industries.
- Hands-on involvement with machine design or production line integration in Electronics & Assembly industries.
- Experience in pre-sales technical support and working with global key accounts.
- Track record of successful concept-to-project conversions with measurable business outcomes.
- Collaboration with cross-functional, international teams in technical sales and engineering environments.
