Supply Chain Procurement Leader

Summary of job contents

Oversees activities related to production and materials planning, scheduling and materials management. MRP (Materials Requirements Planning), inventory planning and material strategies. Implements and maintains all related procedures and material control system definitions including Material Master Data. Ensures materials are scheduled to meet company requirements while maintaining acceptable inventory levels and coordinates efforts to efficiently delivery customer orders.  Directs and coordinates all activities related to Materials Planning/Control as well as inter-company orders. Also, responsible for the production planning functions which deal with the internal communication between sales and internal processes in operations, to provide proactive and reactive service regarding lead times, order expediting and other sales order related support.

 

Key accountabilities

 

  • The Manager is responsible to make the resources and tools available to ensure the achievement of the targets and that the expectations of the HQ in Germany are met in terms of tools and processes. She/he trains, directs and coordinated her/his personnel in order to maximizing internal/external customer service and minimizing inventory investment, while maintaining a high reliability in deliveries (OTIF/DCR).
  • Directly supervises and decides over the material and production planning strategies of the company in order to ensure sufficient stock levels while avoiding overstocking of goods. This duty includes the continuous search for better methods to deal with the company’s changing environment.
  •  As part of the overall responsibility of the planning of Festo part numbers, directly responsible to interface with the RSC and HQ team responsible for the globally planned materials (CTM) and to interface with the Supply Network Planning functions for input about future demands. Develops the necessary network in Festo to effectively collaborate and communicate with the organization.
  • Oversees all personnel and activities of the Materials Management functions for the company. Establishes individual targets of her/his personnel, continuously monitors overall performance and takes necessary action to achieve goals.
  • Leads team in the analysis of materials and determines optimum control levels. Such parameters for example are safety stock (reorder point), lead times, service levels, stock reach, etc.
  • Performs root cause analysis in order to derive continuous improvement efforts. Coaches and develops team members to do the same and work independently.
  • Ensures all organizational activities are carried out in compliance with respective regulations and laws, company policy and procedure.
  • Participates in Material Review Board to determine disposition of obsolete material.
  • Prepares and submits department budget figures of the department annually and is responsible to monitor results on a regular basis to ensure that corrections are made in time, where needed.
  • Prepares performance reports in accordance to Management Review Indicators and presents these in monthly regular management meetings and/or represents department in local or international meetings 2x per year.
  • Responsible for the timely maintenance, development and compliance of all ISO procedures related to the departments, both for internal and external audits.
  • Additional work hours in excess of normal business hours may be necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities.  This includes extra efforts required for projects or periods of short duration.
  • Travel may be required via any mode of transportation as determined by Company for business reasons such as, but not limited to, skill development, training or a company business event.  This would include travel to Corporate Headquarters/Regional (Field) Offices, RSC or national and international suppliers. Travel may be required to perform essential job responsibilities.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Understand in detail the logic and parameters of the material master in relation to strategies for inventory, ranging from sourcing, forecasting, service levels, procurement types, costing, lead times, consumption based planning, etc.
  • Establishing the necessary tools to monitor, measure and report performance of suppliers in order to engage in the necessary alignment and continuous improvement needs to ensure the highest possible level of response and reliability.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • BS in Business Management or Related Technical and/or Supply Chain Management
  • 5 years of relevant job experience. Technical , ERP system experience and manufacturing industry knowledge or equivalent combinations of education and experience
  • Inventory Control background preferred. Must have proven experience in materials planning of mechanical and electrical components.
  • ERP Materials Planning (R/3) experience required; SNP knowledge a plus.
  • Must have worked as Materials Planner before (at least 5 years)
  • Festo experience a strong plus, but more important is the experience in materials planning in a comparable company
  • Oral & written English communication skills, Spanish a plus
  • Experience training staff and/or other system users
  • 2 years managing staff 
  • Computer Literate, MS Office, Proficiency PowerPoint and Excel (Pivot, Vlookup),  SAP a plus.
