Quality Engineer
Purpose / Mission: The Quality Engineer Ensures product and process quality within the operational unit.
Key Accountabilities:
- Defining and specifying activities, processes, and standards to fulfill quality requirements for manufactured materials, components, and products.
- Monitoring quality KPIs for the operational unit and/or assigned value stream.
- Establishing quality standards and guidelines related to products and processes and contributing to their ongoing development.
- Monitoring and evaluating manufacturing processes and outputs against internal and regulatory quality standards.
- Reporting and troubleshooting manufacturing process deviations and product defects.
- Maintaining responsibility for quality across more than one value stream within the value stream organization.
- Improving quality standards and concepts within the operational unit.
- Working with limited supervision in non-routine situations and potentially leading daily operations.
- Training, delegating, and reviewing the work of lower-level employees.
- Communicating with company departments regarding performance and quality standards and monitoring compliance.
- Training employees on quality measures to ensure targets are met.
- Communicating with suppliers to ensure their products meet organizational quality standards.
- Coaching and supporting teams and key interfaces, including team clusters, value stream leaders, and other QCD functions such as material management, industrial engineering, and quality departments.
Knowlege and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, technician qualification, higher technical education, or quality-related education.
- Alternatively, professional experience at Festo exceeding the minimum requirements, typically five or more years.
- Professional Knowledge and Skills
- Problem-solving methodologies including corrective and preventive actions, 8D, 5 Why, A3 Reports, and Ishikawa analysis.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or higher.
- Technical knowledge of process management, quality management systems, ISO 9001, and preferably IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3.
- Experience with quality tools and methods such as Control Plans, Inspection Plans, PDCA, SPC, and FMEA.
- Project management knowledge and basic business/economic understanding.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret product-specific and customer requirements.
- Knowledge of production processes and manufacturing technologies.
- Internal auditor knowledge or certification preferred.
- Basic training and facilitation skills.
- Fluency in the local language and English.
- Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with CAQ systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) preferred.
