Mechanical Design Engineer II

Summary of Job contents:
Mechanical Engineer II independently designs and develops new catalog and customer-specific products. Converts requirements into technical concepts with appropriate cost/performance analysis and supports product lifecycle activities for assigned product families.

Key Accountabilities:

• Full responsibility for developing new catalogue and customer-specific products. Lead product-care activities focused on cost, quality, and manufacturability.
• Create proposals and feasibility assessments including risks, deadlines, costs, and manufacturability.
• Prepare complete engineering documentation (models, drawings, parts lists, data sheets).
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations (FEA, spring, screw, O-ring, materials, etc.).
• Build, test, and evaluate prototype designs for proof of concept.
• Serve as key technical contact for Purchasing and suppliers.
• Utilize change-management processes to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Work in close cooperation with customers, sales teams, and the Headquarters in Germany
• Identify and execute cost-saving or quality improvements within assigned product families.
• Recommend changes to design standards, tools, and processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem solving

Knowledge & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred)
• 2nd language a plus but not required.  (German)
• 3–7 years in mechanical engineering, automation preferred
• Strong CAD proficiency (CREO or similar)
• Experience with simulation tools and engineering calculations
• Solid knowledge of polymeric materials and high-volume manufacturing
• Ability to work independently and manage timelines
• Be knowledgeable about mechanical assembly processes, metal machining technologies
• Strong communication and presentation skills
