Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary of Role: The main objectives of the position are to oversee the development and industrialization of electric automation handling systems (HGO), ensuring product quality, cost efficiency, and timely market entry. This role aligns with the corporate strategy of driving innovation and enhancing customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality products that meet global market demands, thereby contributing to Festo's competitive advantage in the automation industry.



Key Acccountabilities: 

  • Take charge of the entire development lifecycle of Festo HGO systems (automation handling system), from initial concept to production initiation and eventual phase-out.

  • Ensure that development costs for Festo products and aligned HGO systems remain within budgetary constraints.

  • Shape and refine Festo’s product offerings to meet the specifications and demands of both North American and global markets.

  • Serve as the design engineer within local project teams, leading technical discussions and decisions related to HGO systems.

  • Work closely with design teams, project offices, and testing departments to ensure that industrialization processes yield high-quality products at optimal cost and delivery.

  • Drive advancements in knowledge and technology related to Festo products and HGO system calculations, promoting continuous improvement.

  • Act as a local catalyst to speed up product launches, ensuring timely entry into the market.

  • Collaborate effectively within international project teams and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering their development and motivating the team to achieve project goals.

 

Knowledge & Education: 

  • Master’s degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering an advantage.

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree along with substantial experience in mechanical or mechatronic design, particularly in electromechanical actuators within a serial automation component business.

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience is ideal; 3-4 years of relevant experience is a plus

  • Be skilled in CAD software (CREO), SAP, and have experience with Finite Element Method.

  • Be fluent in English and have experience working in an international matrix organization.

  • Have a strong understanding of development processes and product industrialization.

  • Be knowledgeable about mechanical assembly processes, metal machining technologies, and have experience with aluminum profiles and processes essential for designing electric actuator systems.
