Material Handler/Packer
Summary of job contents
Coordinates inventory, collects materials and parts for assembly area responsible for the movement of production material, finished product and packaging of finished product within the facility.
Key accountabilities
- Receives, verifies, and separates work orders for components.
- Attaches identifying labels to materials or marks information on crates or other containers.
- Receives, verifies contents, inventories and stores raw materials.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from carts, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
- Pulls materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Coordinates and controls the handling, storage, and flow of finished product to designated areas.
- Counts, weighs, and verifies number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet from external stock locations.
- Removes product upon request for inspection and delivers to the Quality Department for evaluation.
- Lifts heavy totes and parts by hand or with equipment, and cleans work area.
- Operates power jack to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Moves materials from storage, receiving, and packaging areas to designated work areas.
- Packages and/or labels finished product.
- Completes any necessary changes to the BOM.
- Cycle count for Kanban accuracy
- Verify parts in order system (SAP)
- Completes any necessary changes to the BOM.
- Pack finished product using appropriate packing materials and equipment
- Print labels and confirm product order in the order management system
- Conducts monthly inventory of production material, in process and raw materials, verifies accuracy and discusses variations with appropriate staff member if needed.
- Organize, clean and maintain production facilities and equipment to maintain and improve per 5S system implemented.
- Organize and maintain external production stock locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in manufacturing/warehouse environment or equivalent combination of education/experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires general computer proficiency
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with SAP or similar system is a plus
- Knowledge of basic safety standards and practices
