Electrical Manufacturing Engineer

Summary of job contents

Provide technical and manufacturing engineering support to Operations, with core-emphasis on Production and Assembly functions (manufacturing). Support the organization’s drive for operational excellence, by driving or contributing to, projects which optimize the value-stream and programs which create greater customer satisfaction by exceeding expectations in quality, delivery and cost of ownership.

 

 Key accountabilities

  • Support Prototype, Pre-Production and Production manufacturing methods, training and process validation
  • Interface between Engineering;Production & Quality departments to work cohesively
  • Develop and Deploy; Tools, Jigs & Fixtures to support manufacturing process
  • Create detailed work instructions, visual aides and process routings to maintain acceptable production productivity and quality standards.
  • Perform time and motion studies to provide cost analyses and feedback to management.
  • Design and/or contribute to process teams, processes and methods for a production and assembly environment, with the objective of set-up time reduction, elmination of non value-add material and labor movement, and setting metrics and methods to capture production, assembly and test performance for the purpose of improving operational performance for an entire facility and/or production line.
  • Support and/or develop methods to ensure Manufacturing Sustainment, BOM, Red-lining, ECR and feedback systems for production, assembly and test technicians.
  • Support Production Master data, BOM and Routings in an SAP envinroment.
  • Makes changes to production master data as required via the Festo change management system
  • Supports as required, new product and assembly release, design reviews
  • Assist and/or drive production line design and facility
  • Prepare and/or review production work instructions as required to ensure manufacturing specifications are met.
  • Updates, maintains and potentially administers production and test documentation and subsequent releases and training.
  • Ensures proper methods are utilized in the production, assembly and test areas to ensure compliance to manufacturing and test specifications.
  • National and International travel may be required by any mode of transportation as determined by the company for business reasons
  • Design of electrical and Mechanical test equipment for use in validation of manufactured equipment.  
  • Creation of testing requirements and documentation derived from customer specifications

 

 

Knowledge and Experience 

  • Education
    • Bachelors or Technical degree from Four-year college or university; or minimum of 4 years experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical knowledge: Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operational Excellence
  • Knowledge of products: Power Distribution, Robotics, Industrial Automation
  • Knowledge of customers: Technical, highly-engineered solutions type customers, including OEM’s and End-users; Copy-Exact
  • Knowledge of market/industry segments: Semiconductor, Electronics, Industrial Automation, Energy Distribution
  • Technical and Commercial Customer Interactions, Design Reviews, Process Development and Validation
  • Supplier Assessments, Audits, Process Audits to the extent required within management teams and leading teams of junior engineers and/or technicians
  • Computer Skills: MS-Office, SAP User and CAD required (Autocad and Inventor preferred)
  • Strong functional knowledge of electrical standards and best practices utilized in industrial power systems and assemblies.
  • Strong electronics background, proficient in theory and application.
  • Familiar with metal materials specifications and applicable DIN and/or ANSI standards.
  • Knowledge of machine practices and safety standards. Knowledge of CAD, strong with functional test and schematics creation, revision and training.
  • Familiar with estimating and cost calculation of production, assembly and test methods.
  • Knowledge of measurement and test equipment, with some knowledge of machining/fabrication desirable.
  • Experience designing and documenting manufacturing, production assembly and test specifications, procedures and processes.
