Summary of job contents

The Applications Engineer (AE) provides engineering, product and application support, to include routine to moderately complex designs or modifications to products, training and technical sales support to customers, working collaboratively with Sales Representatives. In this customer facing role,  AEs are expected to spend a large percentage (50% to 60%)of their time visiting customers making sales calls with Sales Representatives and providing technical product and application support where needed. 

Key accountabilities

• As subject matter experts, AEs will work closely with the assigned Sales Representative to find the best technically sound solution for Customers.
• AEs will troubleshoot system failures by reviewing and recommending redesigns of schematic diagrams, in coordination with Festo AG Engineering Department and may write computer operating software programs from existing programs, or may be required to write new operating software programs based on the specifications.
• May oversee installation to ensure machines and equipment are installed and functioning in accordance to specifications.
• Provides technical support and training for Festo software products and tools.
• Maintains product binders, consisting of technical data, application examples, competitor information, test data and additional information as needed.
• Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as required.

• Defines customer requirements and specifications and acts as liaison between the Control Systems and/or Engineering department at Corporate headquarters and customers, distributors and the local Sales Team.

• Will provide training to Sales Representatives on all products, as needed.
• Provides basic technical support for the Festo Field Bus Product, Sensors and Servo Pneumatics.

Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree (BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) or technical equivalent from a four-year College or University
• 3-5 years related experience and /or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills required
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of fluid power preferred
