Senior Backend Developer

Role Description 

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our IT Digital Marketing team within the Digital Sales Hub in Barcelona. In this role, you will design, build, and continuously improve backend services, APIs, databases, and integrations that support our digital marketing and sales capabilities. 

You will develop scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-hosted solutions that enable data flows and business processes across platforms such as Web Content Management, Digital Asset Management, Marketing Automation, Consent Management, and Web Analytics. 

As a senior member of an international Agile team, you will take technical ownership of selected backend solutions, contribute to architecture and engineering standards, and collaborate with frontend engineers, product owners, platform teams, and business stakeholders across different countries and functions. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Design, build, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, message-driven services, search capabilities, and database schemas supporting customer-facing digital products. 

• Develop business logic, domain services, and data-access layers using C# and .NET, with a focus on scalability, security, observability, and fault tolerance. 

• Design and implement integrations with external platforms and services, including WCMS, DAM, Marketing Automation, Consent Management, and Web Analytics solutions. 

• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, deployment processes, and quality gates. 

• Apply and promote engineering practices such as automated testing, code reviews, versioning, continuous integration, monitoring and logging. 

• Participate actively in Agile team activities and contribute to planning, estimation, and reliable iterative delivery. 

• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, including architecture decisions, API specifications, integration designs, and operational runbooks. 

• Analyse and resolve second-level support cases, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions to prevent recurring issues. 

Requirements 

Must-have: 

• Professional experience in backend or software engineering with exposure to frontend integration, ideally in a digital marketing, digital sales, e-commerce, or customer-facing platform environment. 

• Strong, hands-on programming experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem. 

• Experience designing and building APIs (RESTful services) and working with relational databases. 

• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and reliable software-delivery processes. 

• Practical experience applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) and maintaining high-quality, well-tested codebases. 

• Agile mindset and practical experience working in Scrum teams. 

• Ability to communicate technical topics clearly and collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders in an international environment. 

• Very good written and spoken English. 

Nice-to-have: 

You do not need to meet all of the following criteria. We would be interested in any combination of experience in: 

• Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS and cloud-native services.  

• Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. 

• API management, API gateways, authentication, rate limiting, and API lifecycle management. 

• Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). 

• Monitoring, logging, alerting, tracing, and observability platforms. 

• Message-driven architectures, distributed systems, and data-integration patterns. 

• Web Content Management, Digital Asset Management, Marketing Automation, or e-commerce platforms. 

• Razor, Blazor, or supporting frontend integration within .NET-based applications.
